Conversations on Race groups plan for future

Nancy Flood wanted to encourage the more than 50 people Saturday at the Springfield Conversations on Race meeting at First United Methodist Church, many who meet regularly in small groups to discuss race.

“I have a quote, my favorite Margaret Mead quote. You know we’re working in small groups, and sometimes we get discouraged,” Flood said. “So, I wanted to share this thought from Margaret Mead: ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.’ “

Flood was among participants Saturday at the church at 2941 S. Koke Mill Road who reported on the progress of eight small groups known as Constructive Conversations on Race groups. Flood is part of members of the Baha’i Faith who meet with Grace United Methodist Church to discuss race with the help of the booklet “Constructive Conversations on Race.”
